Low-cost process heat for industry
With process heat from biomass you lower your energy costs and become more independent of the energy markets.
Starting point
Plannable process heat relieves your balance sheet
Fossil heat ties capital to volatile markets. Plannable heat from biomass relieves the balance sheet.
Pyrolysis delivers hot water or low-pressure steam plus biochar and CO₂ certificates as two revenue streams. Terratec markets biochar and CO₂ certificates for you, which makes the project viable for investors and operators.

In figures
What a plant delivers
Biomacon plants, calculated at around 8,000 operating hours per year.
160 to 900 kW
Thermal output
Heat from biomass, available year-round.
145 to 815 t/a
Biochar
Output per plant and year.
390 to 2,200 t CO₂/a
CO₂ certificates
1 t of biochar binds around 2.7 t of CO₂ equivalent.
Benefits
Process heat and independence for industrial operations
Cost, model, independence.
Process heat
Heat from biomass at calculable costs.
Contracting or direct purchase
Both are possible, depending on balance sheet and risk appetite.
Independence
Less dependence on fossil prices and energy markets.
Biomass delivery in the DACH region
No biomass of your own?
Our supplier network covers the DACH region. Internationally we source the biomass individually and develop delivery concepts cooperatively.
- Regional supplier network
- Suitable biomass and volumes
- Delivery and supply planned with you
Models
Contracting or direct purchase
Two paths, both with the same benefit. You choose based on your balance sheet and risk appetite.
Contracting
A partner plans, builds and operates the plant. You buy the heat at a fixed price. No capital expenditure, no operating risk on your side.
Direct purchase
You invest yourself and operate the plant. Heat, biochar and certificates remain entirely with you. We include the funding in the calculation.
Businesses with their own residues supply the fuel themselves. Details are under Businesses with residual biomass.
Process
From first meeting to operation
- 01
Preliminary assessment: clarify site, demand and permitting status.
- 02
Site and biomass: define volumes, moisture and supply.
- 03
Concept and profitability: calculate sizing, revenue and funding.
- 04
Construction and commissioning: installation, connection and handover.
- 05
Operation and marketing: use the heat, monetize carbon and certificates.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Do we need our own residues? +
No. Through our regional supplier network we deliver suitable biomass and plan the supply with you.
Buy or contract? +
Both are possible. Direct purchase or contracting, depending on balance sheet and risk appetite.
Which residues are suitable? +
Dry production residues and woody biomass with a sufficient carbon content. We check suitability in the preliminary assessment.
How independent are we of energy markets? +
The heat comes from biomass. This reduces dependence on fossil prices.
What does the preliminary assessment cost? +
The preliminary assessment is our entry product. Details are on the offer page.
