CO₂ sinks / CORCs
Your plant binds CO₂.
We turn it into money.
One tonne of biochar binds 2.7 to 3.3 tonnes of CO₂ over hundreds of years. Terratec markets the certificates for you as a plant operator and opens a third revenue stream. Buyers acquire these removals.
For plant operators
A revenue stream alongside heat and carbon
You earn two revenues through biochar and CORCs. One tonne of biochar binds 2.7 to 3.3 tonnes of CO₂ over hundreds of years. Terratec reviews the certification and markets the certificates.

The EU regulatory framework
In February 2026 the official certification by the European Commission takes place. Biochar is thereby anchored EU-wide as a method of permanent sinks. Legal frameworks create legal certainty for investors. The EU climate neutrality target of 2045 includes the purchase of CO₂ certificates of up to 5 percent.
Certified since February 2026
The European Commission has officially certified biochar as a method of permanent sinks.
Legal certainty
Legal frameworks give investors plannability for multi-year projects.
Target 2045
For EU climate neutrality in 2045, purchases of CO₂ certificates of up to 5 percent are planned.
The European Commission reviews the recognition of the certification systems for the CRCF. We prepare your plant for both paths.
For certificate buyers
Physically measurable, permanent removals
Biochar is a physical CO₂ sink. One tonne of biochar binds 2.7 to 3.3 tonnes of CO₂ over hundreds of years. Over 90 percent of the world's actually delivered permanent CO₂ removals come from biochar.
The bound carbon is present as EBC-certified material.
The certificates are based on the verified net balance. The system deducts the emissions of the process.
Certification of the removal via Puro.earth.
Frequently asked questions
